Partea a II-a a prezent\u0103rii abordeaz\u0103 g\u0103sirea unei \u00eentreb\u0103ri de cercetare \u0219i decizia de a g\u0101si un raspuns folosind dovezile empirice. \u00cen acest scop, prezentarea va analiza modul \u00een care sunt m\u0103surate conceptele \u0219i modul \u00een care datele sunt colectate, codificate, analizate \u0219i comunicate publicului. Scopul prezent\u0103rii este de a oferi o introducere la metodologia cercetarii juridice bazata pe dovezi empirice \u0219i de a ar\u0103ta punctele forte \u0219i punctele slabe ale acestei metodologii de cercetare \u00een dreptul interna\u021bional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n =====<\/p>\n\n\n\n Structured in two parts, this presentation looks at the use of empirics in researching international law. In Part I the presentation will address several matters such as, among others, what is a research method and why is this important; the similarities and differences between conducting research in international law and domestic law; the role of theory in designing research questions and the main types of research methods in international law. Part II of the presentation deals with finding a research question and the decision to answer that question using empirical research. For this purpose, it will look at how concepts are measured and how data is collected, coded, analysed and communicated to the public. The purpose of the presentation is to give an introduction to empirical legal research and to show the strengths and weaknesses of this research methodology in answering research questions in international law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Despre\ninvitat\u0103:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Mihaela Maria Barnes earned her Ph.D. in\nInternational Law from the Graduate Institute of International and Development\nStudies, Geneva. She also holds an LL.M. in International and European Law\n(specialization: International Trade and Investment Law) from the University of\nAmsterdam as well as undergraduate degrees, legal qualifications and experience\nin both common law and civil law. Dr. Barnes was a Visiting Fellow at\nthe Lauterpacht Centre for International Law, University of Cambridge and is\ncurrently a member of the Coordinating Committee of the European Society of\nInternational Law Interest Group on Business and Human Rights. She has\npublished extensively in peer-reviewed journals on various topics of\ninternational law. A revised version of her Ph.D. dissertation (State-Owned\nEntities and Human Rights: The Role of International Law) has been published by\nCambridge University Press in November 2021.
